2w-2PMR Type 18A Motorised Trolley, British Railways No.970213

Built 1952, D. Wickham & Co. Ltd., Ware, Herts.

This Type 18A trolley was used by British Railways at Crianlarich, where the West Highland Railway crossed over the Callander & Oban Railway. It was ordered and supplied along with an unpowered but otherwise similar trailer (also in the collection at Bo'ness), and could be used to carry track workers and equipment over some of the remoter parts of these railways. The units would also provide necessary shelter from Highland weather.

The builders, Wickhams, specialised in light rail vehicles, for a world wide market.

This vehicle (Works No.6049, Wickham's Order No.43131) remains unrestored, and as its future is uncertain it has not been added to the historic Core Collection at Bo'ness. It is currently stored outside.
