The medium-sided open goods wagon fell out of favour in the mid-20th century, and few survived beyond the 1960s. However, this example was retained for use as a runner wagon with our LMS hand crane, and is a very nice example of early British Railways design and construction methods. Used for aggregates, small agricultural machines and in extreme circumstances, containers. Sheeted loads could also be carried.
