This vehicle was built by British Railways to an LNER design for running in express goods services. The "dimples" on the sides house metal rings (for ropes) on the inside. When new it was provided with a hinged tarpaulin support bar for sheeted loads. Unlike its near-contemporary on the LMS (No.416133 in our collection), it was equipped with vacuum brakes from new.
This wagon was Rosyth Dockyard No.15.
