Mk.1 First Class Open (FO) coach No.3096

The coach in BR and SRPS traffic, two pictures

SRPS Core Collection, acquired 1990 with grant support from the National Fund for Acquisitions.
Mainline service. LMS maroon livery.
Built 1959, Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company Ltd. Diagram 73.

The authentic rebuilt interior of this carriage dates from the late 1960s or 1970s. Carriages such as this were most frequently used as first class dining cars on long distance services such as those between London and Glasgow. They would be coupled next to a Restaurant Car, such as No.1730 which is also in the SRPS Core Collection.

To represent 1970s operation, the carriage would be repainted in BR blue/grey.
